Garra x reader parenting

"You're doing what?" A slightly surprised and irritated gaara asked you.
"I'm going out for the day with some friends and leaving you with our son Airi," you replied arms folded more than ready to leave for the day.
"B-but you can't do that..." Garra stalled trying to think of one reason no matter how silly it sounded.
"Look Gaara," you began, "I know this is going to be your first time looking after your son alone and I know that just the thought of it seems daunting enough,  but I wouldn't be willing to leave him with you unless I had some faith in you." Your words seemed to comfort Gaara a little but it was still clear that he was scared. Having no real parents of his own meant that he had known idea how to be a good fatheer. Without your helpful hints and instructions he might not have made it this far. Your eyes drifted to your watch noticing the time, you were already late.
"Ok I know I only agreed to have the baby to protect your reputation but you have to at least try and bond with him," you argued seeming a little desperate. But it was true. Once you had gotten pregnant you dreaded telling Gaara for fear he would tell you to just get rid of it or worse, completely deny that the child was his and shun its very existence. But to your delightful surprise he begged you to have the baby and let him raise it with you. He even insisted on choosing the name. You thought you were special and that he loved you, but this wasn't the case. Once the baby was born, named Airi meaning love and affection,  Gaara completely changed. He was barely ever around. Always busy with work and special missions. You knew that Gaara always put his village first, you being part of the village,  but it felt like he was deliberately trying to avoid you and the baby. However today was going to change that. Today was the day you made him realise how much fun and joy little Airi was. You (eye colour) eyes moved to look into his mint green eyes and you spoke softly
"At least try today and If you still feel the same way I'll never make you babysit again ok?" There was a brief silence which was interrupted by a sigh from Garra before a faint nod.
"Great! I'll be back at 8!" You smiled and went to leave but not before planting a faint kiss onto Gaaras cheek causing him to blush slightly. He watched you leave, closing the door with a light slam, before his attention diverted to the 'little bundle of joy' in the baby carrier. Carefully he took the baby out and examined it more, cradling it in his arms like how you had shown him. Little Airi looked up at him with his (your eye colour) eyes. Gaara gentle brushed away a few strands of stray red hair from the babies face.
"Hello," he began, trying to sound as less menacing as possible, "I'm your father. You may have to forgive me today but it's my first time doing this so I may make a few mistakes." Naturally he got no response from the baby except useless baby gibberish. He looked at the clock, it had only just gone 11. That left him at least 9 more hours before you came back. With nothing else to go on he placed little Airi into his baby carrier and took him into the kitchen.
"Maybe I can get you fed and off to sleep. That way I could find some time to do some paperwork?" Gaara wondered looking through the cupboards for some baby milk and bottles. Not finding any at first he hoped that you might of been kind enough to have already made him some and left them in the fridge. So he checked there. Success. One bottle with a note you had kindly written.
'Garra
I made you this one bottle for an emergency but I would much rather you made them yourself. The bottles are in the cupboard left to the sink and the baby milk to the right to the fridge.
 Love (name)
Xxx'
Gaara sighed loudly. You were right, if he was going to do this he was going to have to really commit to it. He put the ready made bottle back and got out the equipment needed after having been reminded how useless he was at this without you. Quickly he glanced back at Airi to make sure he was still okay before making a start.
"This can't be too difficult," he tried to reassure himself. Around an hour later, with a mixture of sand and baby milk powder all over both the floor and kitchen sides, little baby Airi had gotten hungry and started to cry for the bottle of milk in which Gaara had successfully managed to make. Again he carefully picked up Airi out of the baby carrier and sat down on the closest dining room chair. Gaara began to feed him the bottle, which at first he refused but after a stern look from his father he gladly accepted. Once the feeding was over Gaara placed the now empty bottle in the sink considering it to be your job for when you get home. He lifted the baby into the burping position just as you had taught him and gently began to pat him on the back while pacing up and down the room. Airi let out a cute little burp before Gaara felt a cold liquid running down his back.
"You've just been sick haven't you?" He asked almost sarcastically, trying to remain calm. Quickly and with a little less care he placed the baby back into the carrier and rushed to his room where he could change from his now ruined formal wear into more casual clothes suited a lot better for the days events. Not wasting any time he rushed back into the kitchen, picking up Airi and taking him up to his room.
"Now your fed its time to sleep," he gently whispered which was only met by the joyful giggles of Airi. Taking no notice, Gaara began to gently rock the baby and hum a soft lullaby, something he must have heard you hum. It took around half an hour but Airi finally dozed off into an seemingly deep and innocent sleep. Gaara gently kissed his forehead and laid him to rest in his crib. Gaara stood over his child for much longer than he should have. He knew that he needed to leave and start on the pile of paperwork in his office but he didn't want to. It was the first time that he had ever felt any connection with his child and he wanted to keep it that way. But more than 15 minutes passed and he finally managed to drag himself away. But instead of going to his office and working like he had originally planned, he went to the living room and lead on the sofa, where he thought for a while.
'Is this really what she goes through every day on her own? How does she do it? I've been absolutely no help to her whatsoever. And she's raising MY child...that is if it is my child?' A sudden sense of worry field his body for some unknown reason
'What if it isn't and she lied to me? A lot of people said that it looks more like her that me. In fact the only thing that it has to resemble me is the red hair. But that could come from anywhere.  Why would she lie to me? I thought she loved me.' His hand moved towards the mark on his forehead
"Does no one love me?" He asked himself before slowly falling into a deep sleep himself.

He woke up around three hours later on the floor to the sound of crying. How long had he been crying? Gaara got up realising the shooting pain in his back from sleeping on the floor.
"I must have fallen off the sofa..." he moaned. Despite the pain he mad his way to Airi's room to find him lead in his crib crying at the top of his lugs. However he calmed down slightly when he saw Gaaras face lean over and pick him up.
"Now what's wrong?"Gaara asked getting more or less nothing but a faint whimper as a reply.
"You can't be hungry again I just fed you." Still no reply. It was then when he noticed the smell and realised what he needed. Changing. Something which Gaara dreaded the thought of most of all, even though that concern had never crossed his mind until this moment. He didn't exactly know what to do, he had watched you do it a few times but never really paid much attention. Nevertheless he would have to use these faint memories to get him through this. Another half hour later, which a pile of discarded nappies and baby wipes Gaara had finally managed to correctly dress little Airi. Exhausted, Gaara sat down on the sofa while Airi led quietly on his play mat with a wide variation of toys to keep his mind interested. It must have only been for a few seconds but gaara closed his eyes, but once he opened them imminently he noticed someone was missing. He shot up onto his feet looking all over the room for him.
"It was only for a few seconds. He can't have gone too far," Gaara reasoned going through the only open door leading into the kitchen. He looked around finding nothing but small prints in the sand and milk power spread across the floor. Panic started to fill him as this was one of the things that he was most worried about. How could he lose him in his own home? A faint cry came from another room and Gaara quickly rushed there to find Airi sitting in the middle of a dark room crying from fear. A sigh of relief escaped Garras lips as he picked up his child comforting him.
"You scared the crap out of me. Don't do anything like that again ok?" He asked with a comforting soft whimper as a reply.

"I'm home," you yelled walking through the door closing it quietly. Getting no reply you crept into the living room where you found a sleeping Gaara with a sound asleep Airi led on his chest. You smiled picking up Airi and placing him inside his crib before covering Gaara up with a blanket and kissing his forehead.
"You did well today"
